Can you put one of each type of firefish together? It will be in a 40 gallon tank. I know 2 or more of the same kind will result in fighting if they are not a pair, but what about
1 red firefish
1 purple firefish
And 1 helfrichi firefish

Thanks

It's hit or miss but most likely someone is getting picked on especially in a 40 gallon

I have 2 purple African firefish in my aquarium 90 g and they get along pretty well they are actually always together so I don't know if they are a pair or became one on the go

Ime, purple bullied the red, and he was added later, and abit smaller too...

I have 2 red firefish and 1 purple in a 37 gallon and I've never had a problem. They stay on opposite sides of the tank and the purple isn't as skittish.

For how long?

In reefkeeping there are always exceptions, but in the majority of instances it doesn't work out longterm.
