Except for certain specialty situations, I'd consider the diffuser a requirement for the Radions, not an option. Radions are powerful, but without the diffuser they tend to suffer from spotlighting. Yes, you do lose a little bit of PAR with the diffuser in, but you get a much more even spread of light.
The exception would be if you're mounting the lights very high above the tank - 12" - 16" or more. In that case, the individual diodes have enough distance to mix sufficiently on the way down to your tank, giving you a relatively even spread. Of course, in that case you're still losing some PAR due to mounting the lights higher.
BRS did a video on it if you want a more exact breakdown of the differences between the diffuser vs. no diffuser.
