ok I am looking at drivers for my led's. the question I have is if I get a dim-able driver,
when I dim the led's it is going to change the color of the bulbs and lower there output

so should I go with less leds on the fixture and add them until I feel it is the right color for me or just go with the more led's and dim them (dosnt seem very efficient)

their is a company in California called Rapid LED they handle Cree products. speak to Mike he knows everything about what you're looking for. good luck

Would be cheaper to add as you need...however its going to be a pain to take them on and off, order a new set, etc. FWIW, I've never heard anybody discuss the LEDs changing color if they are dimming them. Also keep in mind that most LEDs must be run in lines of around 12, so adding a little more light might turn out to be too much after adding another series. Dimming them would probably be your best bet I think.

Talk to ReefLEDLights.com...they are sponsors on this great site and they are very good at what they do and can help with anything you need.

Dimming LED's does not change their color. Many drivers allow you to run as few as 4-5 LEDs and max of 12-14. It depends on the LED and driver.

The color does change a little bit as you dim them, however, it is not enough to be noticeable.

Personally, I would go with more LEDs and dim them. Although it is somewhat less efficient, it gives you a much greater range of control and is much easier to do than slowly adding LEDs.
