You gotta work for that food. Feed these guys three to four times a day for about 6-8 cubes, plus some bits of Rods food throughout the day. They either get Spirulana Brine, Mysis, Rods Food, Scallops, and occasionally Blood Worms.

Love it when the clown swims in the feeder to get his first.

That is awesome! Btw, I removed the top and bottom part of that innovative marine feeder, just using the ring itself. I find it that food sometimes gets stuck inside otherwise. That way with the ring, I can also dump pellets and flakes and impatient ones would just pick it from surface. Plus, its low profile that way.

Interesting. I gave up on those defrost/dosing feeders. The slow release of food meant that the most aggressive eaters got the majority of it. Now I defrost a few cubes each feeding and pour it into the vortech pumps so it gets quickly dispersed. Everyone gets some that way.

This^

I have a feed program on my Apex that just leaves a single MP40 running. That seems to spread the food out evenly and gives even the less aggressive feeders a fair chance. Of course my tank is only 6'. If I'm in a hurry I squirt a turkey baster full of tank water in the container to hasten the thawing.

NICE! Seems like torture waiting for it to defrost. ;Nailbiting

It's like waiting that realllllly long two minutes for the microwave when your hungry.

Interesting.

Sure didn't see any food go to waste.

There is very little if any food waste. It all gets eaten. It does help that I have high flow in the tank but a slow turnover through the sump.

Beautiful tank! Glad to see I'm not the only one who "over feeds". Does that Rainford's goby eat from the water column?

The Rainford's do eat from the water column. They will only eat the Spirulana Brine and small bits from the Rods Food. They do spend a lot of time sifting sand and hunting pods on the rocks throughout the day too.

You know how many times I've cleaned the feeder and realigned the top and bottom so there is the maximum opening! I never considered just removing the bottom. DUH! Bottom removed! It's also one less part to clean.

The mixture of different foods ensures everyone gets fed throughout the day. The Evansi's won't touch the Mysis, only the Blotchies and Cardinals eat the squid, everyone gets something out of the Rods food. There are enough small bits that make it by the heavy feeders that feed the Rainfords and Firefish. Otherwise no one is afraid to bust in the group and grab their share. Everyone has a nice torpedo shape body, well except the Fijian Blenny. He just has a pot belly.
