Good afternoon,

I am hoping to whoever is reading this that you can help me beat this battle of Dino’s . I currently have a 5 month old tank and have begun my battle with Dino’s . They have really taken off recently ( I just changed my aquarium from 29 gal to 40 ) and I think my tank upgrade may be the cause, because I am experiencing a bacterial bloom. I top off with rodi water and am using saltwater from lfs. My parameters currently are
11.8 dkh
1250 Mg
450 Ca
No ammonia /nitrites
Ph 8.2
1.026 salinity
As far as nitrates go , I think it is at 10ppm it is hard to tell with api test. I am dosing MB7 daily and babe turned off the white lights in hopes to help . I’m also feeding heavily with a cube of mysis daily and pellets. Reef roids twice a week. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you all

It’s hard to takes picture of them , they cling on to the zoas frag , and only go on the rocks /corals and recede at night

you have a cloudy water bacterial bloom. Believe it or not, that's more of an issue than the dinos. That kind of out of control growth will cause very low O2 levels which can harm livestock.

Man I can’t get a break haha , I turned on my skimmer to increase O2 , should I be doing anything else? The Dino’s go all over my toadstool, here is a picture from this morning :

I would recommend dosing Vibrant, 1 ML per 10 G.

I am current using it for my 240g system, I dose 24 ML per week, I will be doing it for 9 weeks and a 16 OZ bottle is enough for a treatment of 9 weeks (Depend on your tank size obviously), I guess for your system the 8 OZ will be sufficient.

Also, stop feeding reefroids for couple of days :)

Ok I will definitely stop using reef roids for a bit, I’m in between buying vibrant or a UV sterilizer any Tex’s?

I was battling dinos a couple weeks ago. Some one here gave me great advice and it worked wonders. I wont try to repeat what they said so I'll just copy and paste it.

"Either tonight or tomorrow night turn lights off for the next 5 days . Using a turkey baster blow the stuff loose and net or siphon up. Also at night, add 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10gallons for the next 5 nights.
During the day, add 1ml of liquid bacteria per 10 gallons.
Continue to feed fish as normal BUT DO NOT FEED CORAL FOOD TO CORAL OR ADD NoPox to tank which will feed Dino.
Day 6, turn blue lights to normal schedule and whites at 10%, then add whites 5.% each day until normal schedule.
Good Bye dinos !!"

This is just for a Dino problem. I had a new tank on the 6th day. Good luck!

I’m thinking UV sterilizer plus stoppping of reef roids will be my move
I used lifegard aqua steppro with a lifegard quiet one pro series pump and it worked wonders on my tank. I went UV route so I wasnt adding chemicals causing any possible unwanted outcomes to my tank inhabitants, there's always a chance with chemicals. Plus the UV light helps with many issues and you'll always have it if needed for anything in the future.

I’m battling them as well. I have been doing hydrogen peroxide 1ml per 10 gal daily for two weeks, added UV (not sure if properly sized or flow correct) plumbed into return line. Dosing vibrant once a week.

I started with a 3 day black out. About 75% went away, but still battling it. It’s a slow process but two weeks in and I see improvements.

good luck!

Thank you everyone for the advice , I’m sure I have enough tools now to beat Dino’s!

In my experience I learned UV sterilizer is more of a preventative measure rather than solving it right away.
So Yes!! do get a UV - But before you do, watch BRS Videos on youtube regarding the UV Sterilizer (They have done an investigates I believe as well as explain you everything you need to know) I would highly recommend that, it helped me in making a better decision.

The also have a 9 week investigate on VIBRANT as well. (that helped me too)

and all those are not in boring 30 min videos lol

No sweat- here you go:
As soon as tonight or tomorrow night turn lights off for the next 5 days . Using a turkey baster blow the stuff loose and net or siphon up. Also at night, add 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10gallons for the next 5 nights.
During the day, add 1ml of liquid bacteria per 10 gallons.
Continue to feed fish as normal BUT DO NOT FEED CORAL FOOD including reef roids TO CORAL OR ADD NoPox to tank which will feed Dino.
Day 6, turn blue lights to normal schedule and whites at 10%, then add whites 5.% each day until normal schedule.
Good Bye dinos !!
