I’ve got Dino in my QT tank. I’ve got about seven corals in the tank that cost me around $500. Throwing them out is not an option. What can I do to get these corals to my direct tank without bringing the Dino with them? I am running a UV light right now and headed to Walmart to get a microscope.

I had a similar issue. I asked if I should move the corals or leave them. The answer I received was leave them in the QT and eradicate the dinos there first.

I would have never been able to battle dinos in my primitive QT setup. My best chance for success, even if it was infecting the display with dinos, was to move the corals over and deal with what came. I had been researching dinos a lot, and I personally think that dinos result almost entirely from a lack of biodiversity and tank maturity. Since my tank had been up and running for about 2 years at that point, I thought it improbable that the display tank would not be able to handle the dinos. I ended up moving them to my display anyway. The dinos did not follow the corals to the display.

I would not advise you follow this advice blindly, especially if your display tank is not mature. Do your homework and make an educated decision for yourself.

Agreed.

A number of factors play into the dino plague. Sometimes it’s nutrient limitation (true zero) , , vibrant , carbon dosing , somtimes it’s not Dino’s.
You can eek through treatment in the qt, UV, peroxide dino x nutrient dosing etc. or make the swap to the display sooner.

If the DT is fine , you could do water changes using the old DT water.

DT is starting over and going through the cycling stage right now. I'm a little concerned adding the corals to the DT due to its stage. I shouldn't have bought the corals this early, but a local reefer is moving and I got the corals for 20 cents on the dollar. (Walt Disney frag with 2 polyps for $100, couldn't pass up)

Walmart has microscopes? I Was gonna order one today for the same issue but if Walmart has them I'll just swing by after work.
