Tank is approximately 3 months old now. I had to replace my substrate about 3 weeks ago due to a velvet outbreak and needed to find a blenny that went missing. A couple of weeks ago diatoms showed up but have subsided then followed by Cyano( red stringy with bubbles). The cyano seemed to be disappearing then bam today. All the areas that were red and stringy are now brown and I have bubble explosion on the substrate now. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a microscope right now. I will get water parameters a little later this evening and post. I have been dosing reef fusion 2 part, Red Sea reef fusion and purple up for the past few weeks and my coral are doing pretty good now. Does this potentially look like Dino’s or am I freaking out

I think air bubbles working their way out of a new sand bed....hopefully.

I hope that’s all. I’d did have two sand sifting stars but re-homed them two days ago. I’m also seeing some of the bubbles on the rocks where the cyano was blooming. I really hope it’s not Dinos. This tank startup has been disappointing at times with the velvet outbreak and all of the other uglies that come with a new tank. All of which I’m sure were brought on by rookie mistakes on my part

Pretty sure it’s Dino’s and it’s spreading . I base this on another thread where i strained some water with a sample of the Dino through a paper towel and it came back in the strained water. I’m going to try blackout and peroxide dosing of 1ml/10gal. Question is should I keep my Refugium lights off during the blackout period. I have been seeding with copepods for a few months and daily dosing of phytoplankton. I plan to continue doing this through the blackout. Is there anything else I should do?

Im not a dino export but id say first step is to identify which kind you have microscopically
