Hey everyone. I currently have dino in my tank. A couple weeks ago I went away on a 4 day back home and my roommate was watching the tank for me. When I cam back the tank was completely covered and almost couldnt see in the tank. Since then I have turned the lights off for 3 days then back on for a day or 2 then it would start coming back so I repeated the process. While adding 7mL of hydrogen peroxide a day since my tank is a 65 gal. It still comes back even when it appears to be gone with no lights. All my nutrient levels are good, before I left I did a 10 gal water change and my levels hit 0 nitrates so I think that's what caused it as well as I feed my corals reefroids and amines. So it probably all added to it. Now I have tried the raising of nutrients(or going to) I tested my nitrates and phosphates today. Nitrates around 40ppm and phosphates about .05. But it's still coming back? I really dont want to test down the tank to get completely rid of this nuisance. I have nitrate and phosphate dosing stuff on the way just in case I'll need to get my levels higher. Any information you can give me would be much appreciated. Thank you all

What size tank? Is it reef or fish only? How old is tank?

You need to be more patient imo. I had/have the same problem. I increased nutrients and let it sit. The dinos are still there but they are slowly (but surely!!) going away. I also have a lot of green algae growth in the aquarium. Do you see any of that? The point of raising nutrients is for other algae to grow so they out compete dinos for nutrients. I also added a UV sterilizer to the sump, im not sure how much damage that is doing but so far so good.

You can also turn off red green and white light off. just run blues help until it gets gone. This will slow it down a bit. This has helped me before !!
And more flow if you don't have a lot.

I know I need too and I'm trying to be. But if I run lights it will come back full force in a matter of a day or 2. My tank is a 65 Gal, it's a mixed tank with coral and fish, and it's about 5 months old or so. I've been adding microbactor 7 on a daily basis, I started that 2 days ago and before that I did it once a week. I also have a UV that I have ran since the tank started after cycling. Thank you for your reply!

I just turned lights on and turned those all the way off now. Thank you for your reply! I would say I have really good flow in my system
