Hello, I had a mild case of Cyano that I had been trying to get rid of without help. Last week it got worse in the sand and I went ahead and used red slime remover.. within two days it was gone but replaced with this brown algae.. is this diatom or dinoflagellates?

nitrates are around 5
Phosphates are reading zero on this expired salifert test kit so i don’t really know what it is.

will Red Sea energy AB raise phosphates at all? I might start using it more so.

It doesn't look like dino to me. It looks like diatoms but that Duncan doesn't look to good all the algae on it..

It’s been through a lot. When j got it that entire thing was covered in GHA and was bleached being on the top of the tank. I have since got rid of the GHA and it’s getting color back. It then got Cyano all through it and I just got rid of it, now there all this brown algae stuff On it

As far as I know algae doesn't grow on live coral. Parts might be dead. Possibly needs some fragging but I'm no expert by anymeans hopefully someone else will chime in

oh those are dead heads, they have always been dead when I got it and it was covered in GHA. Some of them have come back though

Looks like what you have is Green hair algae and Bryopsis. Bryopsis is a tough cookie to remove but can be done.
Pull as much as you can by hand and focus on the roots of the algae. Dipping in hydrogen peroxide will help. Fluconasol(flux) will get rid of it and also liquid Vibrant will starve it and get rid of it

I’ll try vibrant. Flux Rx is what I used to to get rid of it the first time! I wonder why it is coming back, the ultra slime remover? I did get AI prime lights and dialed them in using a par meter ( ended up being maxed on everything, 0 red, 0 green, 19 white) that was the only way to geT the par for my Acro st the top, and all my LPS at the bottom/mid. I dialed it down a bit this morning, but that can’t be permanent..

I just checkedwith Hannah checker and it shows phosphates at 0.00 which makes me think dinos even more.. but idk. Bryopsis and Dino’s have the complete opposite cause and cure so I’m not sure what to do yet.

I saw vibrant has vinegar and I don’t wNt to lower my phosphates even more with it. But I could have gha and coral soaking all the phosphates as well..

Dinos whether brown or green will look like snot with little bubbles and stringy

With my normal lights going it looks very brown and stringy.

with the whites full blast it looks green.

no bubbles yet like I saw on the cyano
As safety.... reduce or turn off white lights and dose 1ml of hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons at night for 3 days and 1ml of liquid bacteria per 10 gallons during day.
DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX DURING THIS TIME

Okay, I have already turned off white lights.
I might do that for sure. What liquid bacteria do you think? I have another thread asking about this specifically actually as well.

Red Sea energy AB+ amino qualify as coral food?
