Hey guys, dosed 4ml of dino x so my 30g tank to help with my dino issue. Two hours in I shine my light to see if there is any effect and see my yellow tang and firefish dead and one of my clowns breathing heavy. I took all my fish out (in a bucket with air stone) and running a lot of carbon. I've done my research on this product and I'm confused to why this would happen. Please let me know what your thoughts are.

I am not familiar with Dino X. If it is supposed to be fish safe, then it could have been any oxygen issue. Just a thought.

I'm sorry about your loses.

If I had to guess, the Dino X killed some dino's which responded by releasing toxins into the water. Were you running a large amount of carbon when you started using the Dino X?

I took all my carbon out, because the directions said too.

That was my first thought, but with a skimmer and a lot of flow I ruled that out.

Hi,

Sorry about the losses.

Dino X does NOT directly effect tank inhabitants.

With many different kinds of Dino, there are certain strains out there that release toxins as they begin to die-off. It is THESE toxins that then stress corals, invertebrates, and fishes. For that reason, we always recommend manually removing (siphoning) as much of the dino as possible before the first treatment. This minimizes the possibility of toxin-release in case that is the dino that is present in the aquarium.

How long after adding Dino X can carbon be run in the system to help handle any toxins released by the dying Dino's?

So just to be clear - you do NOT run carbon WHILE using Dino X (the entire dosing time of around 10 days) but then run it again after 1 to 2 days after that 10 days OR you run it 1-2 days into the dosing and run it for the remaining 8-9 days and after??

I had started using Dino X on March 12th, increased the flow, running a skimmer and have lost 2 fish in a week.
I have the same question about using carbon as I usually use Chemi-pure Blue in my tank and removed it when I started my Dino X treatment.
