So I’m going to be using Dino x to treat this crap. In the instructions it says not to dose trace elements, but then it says to use balling light or lime water to adjust parameters. and says caution using premixed, CA, Mg, and Alk cause it could contain trace elements.
My question is I currently use the triton method for my water elements.Has anyone used Dino x while ousting Triton method and did you stop dosing during the use of Dino x. If you stopped dosing how did you keep up with parameters?

Hello, I have the same problem, as mentioned above as you did to deal with the Dino X

I actually stayed away from Dino x after reading so many coral death. I got rid of it the, ole natural way lol. I did bi-weekly water changes, lowered my light intensity a bit, kept the rocks and corals cleaned of the crap, and fed more. My issue was from dropping my phosphates to zero on accident using a new super strong GFO. It lead my parameters to be all out of whack. Water changes and the frozen food both have new fresh ph so what a better way to bring it up. I used a substrate vacuum to clean all the crud off my sand. Then I’d clean off the rocks and corals using a soft toothbrush and turkey baster for the corals. Then with it all floating around, I’d use my fish net to scoop up all the big free floating stuff while the return pump flow would get the smaller stuff into the overflow. I have a rollermat so it collected it all and kept it out of the water so it didn’t break back down into the return line. It worked, three weeks of that and, boom gone! I hope that helps, but I wouldn’t use Dino x if you have sensitive corals.

Thanks for the reply, I'm from São Paulo - Brazil and I've tried everything and it seemed like it was going well but today I got home and booommmm all over again. I don't know what to do anymore, even though I already have the dino x in my hand, but I'm very afraid to use it. what do you suggest

Hey hello to my fellow reefing friend from Sào Paulo! ‍♂️
soscroll up from your reply and you’ll see my break down of what I did. I didn’t use anything chemical and my Dino issue was gone within about three weeks. What are your nitrates/nitrites and PH at? One must be way off if you have Dino’s?

I I highly recommend against Dino X. While it itself is “reef safe” when the dinos all start dieing the ensuing pool of toxins kills fast, I had fish die within seconds of dosing one time.

Dinos are frustrating I understand, but they do go away, elevate nutrients, UV and blowing off rocks helps against all types,

Good luck!

I am gradually increasing nitrate and phosphate and the pH I am keeping a little higher at 8.4 to 8.5 in the rest I am doing the same as you. i'm already in this for about 4 weeks and i'm going to wake up another week and if it doesn't get better i'll go from Dino X.
Thank you for your help

Yep 100% agree. I got rid of mine within three weeks doing what you said and it works. Increased feeding, water changes, lowered light intensity a bit cleaned off rocks and vacuumed the substrate. A lot better than nuking my tank with Dino x.
