Also When dosing silicates would i need a silica tester or just go with the instructions without testing.

Don’t worry about silicates testing. Your test is diatoms bloom. Silicates doesn’t seems to have negative affect on corals or fish. Calculate 2 ppm dose and add it to the tank. Keep top it up with little every day. I used sponge excel and the top up was 20 drops a day. Diatoms bloom is not really an issue. Once silicates used up they go too soon after.
