I did an ICP test 5 weeks ago. The only results that were bad was my Silicon was 1162 which is 10x higher than recommended. So i think this is feeding my problem. I was thinking it was diatoms but I purchased a cheap microscope and now think it's actually dinos but would like some help with the ID.

About my tank... I have hermit crabs, emerald crabs, snails, copepods, bristle worms. I also have a refugium with a couple different kinds of macro algae.

I have a 446 liter/118 gal reef system that is about 9 months old. At present my system reads:
Temp: 79
ALK: 8.10
Ca: 440
Mg: 1320
pH: 8.2
Hanna Nitrate: >5
Hanna Nitrite: 12
Hanna Phosphorous: 8
Hanna Phosphate: 0.69

Every week for the past 5 weeks I have:
- dosed vibrant
- dosed microbacter7
- performed 15% water change
- vacuumed sand bed

Every day for the past 3 weeks I have:
- dosed Coral Snow with CyanoClean

This stuff seems to almost disappear at night and really darkens up with the lights on.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Higher magnification would make it easier to identify the type of dino present. It looks like possibly amphidinium dinos but that movement doesn't typically go with amphidinium....these usually scoot around fast!

Maybe @taricha can help identify these better...

Looks like large cell amphidinium, diatoms and maybe some cyano strands.

Thank you! I'll need to get a higher magnification lens.
