My tank has been up for about 10 mths now. I added a GFO reactor about 2 mths ago bc my phosphates were a bit high. I do a 10% water change weekly. I test often and my phosphates, nitrates and nitrites are undetectable. Mg is at 1500, alk 9, ca is 430. Everything was going great until 2 weeks ago. I started to notice tiny oxygen bubbles on the rock and some of the plugs of my coral frags. I also noticed some of my zoas weren't opening up and brown stringy like algae on my toadstool and clam. I did a little research and I believe they are dinos. I covered the tank for 3 days, stopped water changes, and began dosing hydrogen peroxide. All evidence of what I saw before has disappered. I've reduced the photoperiod to 5 hours a day but today I noticed some more oxygen bubbles around my frag plugs. I've noticed through research that a lot of tanks that have been hit with these things have near perfect water chemistry. I know some people say to increase GFO, but I'm wondering if I should remove my reactor completely. Anyone have any ideas?

It took me almost a year to rid my tank of Dino's.

I tried the lights out, peroxide, gfo, carbon, etc. the thing I found to work in less than 3 days was a filter pad that takes out heavy metals. I still have the package somewhere. Ill post back up to what company makes it but it was well worth the $20 for 2 pads.

I'm having the same problem! The lights out method worked but it came back eventually. It doesn't seem to be killing my toadstool or zoas but it does irritate them so I'm changing the filters in my rodi and cutting feeding and photo period down. I'll let you know how it goes

I have a basement sump system so bare with me.

My return dumps into a 40b that holds the skimmer and reactors, then it flows to a 100g poly tank which is hooked up to my return pump.

I cut some eggcrate to fit inside the rim of the 40b, set the pads on top and re-routed the drain hose on top of that.

Thanks for the link! I just ordered them. I'll post back how they work. I'm wondering if I should place them right over the filter socks in my sump. i'm not sure if they need water to pass directly over them to work or if I can just place them in the sump between where my skimmer and return are.

I wouldn't even use filter socks if your going to be using this for now. They seem to trap a lot of stuff. Or if there's a way to use the filter socks to initially trap the big junk and use these after.

Not sure what your setup looks like

I would say up by the filter socks. They might clog up faster but I was willing to try anything to get rid of my dinos.

Ok, that's what I will do. I'll do anything to get rid of them too. I'll keep my fingers crossed this works. Thanks for all your help!

Interested in seeing your results as ppl get them here locally sometimes pretty often

Just wanted to post back. I bought the pads and have had them in for a week now. Seem to have done the trick! Thank you!
