Hello all - I'm 6 months in and have a dino bloom that just won't seem to go away. I had to make a repair to a crack in one of the inner chambers of my sump last month and used aquarium safe silicone to fix the glass. Could this be what's causing the diatom party? The tank has had very low to 0 nitrate readings for a while as well so I'm sure the little I have now just below 25 PPM which I'm sure isn't helping any. Thanks!

I’ve never seen a connection between silicone and dinos. You mentioned both dinos and diatoms. Did you know which you have?

Oh I mean to say diatoms due to silica. There aren't the telltale bubbles in it leading me to believe it's not dinolagellates.

people have used yeast packets to take care of diatoms.
Look up vivid aquariums. they show what exact packets they used from amazon
