I added a chunk of chaeto to my Biocube about 2 weeks ago and ever since, I've seen an increase of Dinos in my tank. I was thinking that because of the low nutrient levels caused by the addition of chaeto and the use of Chemi-Pure, (sometimes) Phosguard, and Purigen, the nutrients of my tank were completely depleted, and when I tested the water, both nitrates and phosphates were significantly lower than previously recorded. Has anyone else experienced this dramatic change? And should I just through away my Chaeto?

I would not throw away my Chaeto, simply harvest and leave tennis ball size, turn off skimmer, take out gfo, get your nitrates to 3-5ppm and phosphates to 0.09, also how long is your refigium light is on? cut that back, when the nutrients that low dinos seems to bloom cause there are no other competition. I run a micro algae reactor with cheato in it, however i do testing every 4 days to make sure i am not hitting super low nutrient levels, the idea is here to be 3-6 nitrates, 0.03-0.09 phosphates. I have a small tank 40 gallon so i run a 9 watt uv 24/7 to keep bacteria's at bay. But same principles for all sizes. Obviously if your tank is larger 9 watt not even close to being enough,

Several Options
Bring nutrients levels up
Siphon as much as Dino as you can possibly a day (without water change, siphon into a filter sock) 50-100 micron,
Insert a pink floss via seaweed clamp
Bubble bath your tank so the dinos are floating and your floss can catch as much as they can do this as much as you can and clean or change floss often.
If Uv is an option IMO probably will take care most of it I highly recommend this method.
3 day blackout, add Micro bacteria either dr tims or vibrant after the 3 day black out when dino is at its weakest, and you should beat it.

Is gonna take some time but you will beat it.

Good luck
