Dinos and crypto or oodinium. Help pls!

Hey Reefers. Looks like everything is going downhill for me today. Feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed. Found out today my purple tang in QT has ich, not a real biggie since it's in QT. Started copper treatment.

So now I see issues with my display tank. I added a blue hippo tang in my tank Friday night. Over 30 days in QT, TTM no copper. No signs of ich from the lfs when I first got it. No signs of any disease during TTM and always eating a lot. When I transferred it to the display tank, it adjusted within the first half hour. No signs of stress. Looked healthy yesterday, and fine this morning. I always inspect my fish in the morning. Didn't notice anything.

So just now, 9:30pm. I noticed that it has a lot of tiny white spots about the size of a grain of salt. Probably around 100. So I thought oh great, it has ich and now my tank has ich, dangit. Now I have to remove all my fish into QT, which would not be fun. I have like 12 other fish in there. None of them have any signs of disease. I assumed the ich probably came in from one of my corals I got recently, or my TTM failed on me.

Then I was reading a post from @vetteguy53081, that replied in my thread about my purple tang and he mentioned crypto or oodinium. I googled it, and it looks like what my blue tang has. Then I noticed all these bubbles starting to form on my rock. Picture attached. Is that Dinos? Also crypto and oodinium are a form of dinos, so would dinos in my tank have caused crypto and oodinium on my blue tang and not ich?

I was having an issue with cyanobacteria on my sand bed. So yesterday I did 15% water change and siphoned the cyanobacteria from my sand. Then I dosed microbacter 7 hoping to help with the cyano. I tested phosphate today and came back at 0.05. I'm guessing this caused the dinos to break out?

My current water parameters:
Calcium 350
Akilinity 7.7
Phosphates 0.05
Salinity 1.025
Nitrates 10ppm
Temp 78.5
PH 8.0

Safe to rule out ich on my blue tang and assume it's crypto or oodinium? Tried to get a picture, but it hides when I get near.

How do I get rid of the dinos before they spread everywhere else? They are just on some sections of my rock work.

Not seeing signs of dino not to say you have none. To assure if Dino are present, they don’t get out of control, lower white light intensity and discontinue any coral foods as well as blowing bubble area loise with a turkey baster and see if bubbles return and how soon

Thanks for the reply. I just took a turkey baster to the bubbles and appears to be bubbles trapped in a film of cyano. So looks like I panicked about the Dinos. But now I need to address the issue with my blue tang. How can I rule out crypto/oodinium over ich?

Ok. Just realized oodinium is Velvet. It definitely does not have velvet, so most likely be ich. Now the daunting task of trying to remove all fish from the DT without dismantling my rock work. Any tips?

Make sure it is ich before you go through the trouble.
*is he still eating
*is he scratching against rocks or coral
*is he swimming with jerking whips and motions occasionally
*does he have trouble breathing

It may just be deposits or debris. Got a pic?

If it is ick, you can buy a fish trap, place food the tang likes in it and trap it. Moving rockscape is a pain and stress the heck out of livestock.

Still eating like a champ and negative to the rest of the questions. Doing everything normal. No flashing. I originally thought it might have been debris since it likes to swim through rock work and squeeze through tight spaces to hide inside the rock. But the spots on the body are too consistent in size and so many of it. I'll try and get a pic, but the bugger is camera shy and won't hold still. I'll continue to monitor and assess the situation.

Any recommendations for a good fish trap?

My stock list is:
2 clowns
3 chalk basslets
2 firefish - these guys would probably be most difficult to catch
1 clown goby
1 diamond goby
1 mandarin
1 tailspot blenny
1 royal gramma

Based on your other fishes, I'd say a sheet of nori inside the trap and place the trap higher up in your tank.

The other fishes don't like to venture too high up to eat the algae inside the trap.

However, I honestly don't think it's ick. Tangs tend to spot up from irritation the first week or so introduced in a new tank.

Try first with freshwater dip and rule out flukes. If still present, try ruby red or copoer dip

Thanks for everyone's help. I went to check on it this morning, looks like almost all of the spots are now gone. Will check again after work and report. Thanks.

So the spots seem to come and go. But the tang has been started to flash a bit. Some other fish also flash once in awhile. But none of the other fish show any signs of ich. I'm assuming they all have strong immune systems. Everyone is still eating and swimming fine.

I will probably start to gather parts for a large QT for copper treatment and transfer them over.
