Ok been googling all morning but I think I just got my first Dino bloom. Any help confirming?

Just started up after I fed Reef Roids for first time... 3 month old tank (EVO 13 nano)...my parameters showing NO3 at 5ppm and 0 Phos...but I'm assuming that is whatever this algae is consuming the Phos?

Its stringy on a bunch of my coral frags. I manually removed a bunch but it seems like it was back in an hour and growing fast with lights on this morning. I already killed the lights to slow growth down and now planning next steps.

I know lots of threads on how to battle...I am really just looking for confirmation on what it is. any help. thx all.

It’s hard to tell from that pic but your tank is pretty new, so outbreaks like this happen. Everyone calls it the “ugly” phase of cycling. Can you raise your PO4 a little? I’ve had problems when my phosphates bottom out. I’m not sure if those are dinos. Could be algae, or maybe diatoms (although diatoms are usually brown). Hopefully more people will add their 0.02. Good luck!

I think def Dino. Vacuumed and siphoned out yesterday but once lights came on this morning the strands started growing again. Running actinic only today.

Forgot to dose h202 last night but will start tonight. A little nervous about adding phos. Been trying to just feed heavy but that hasn’t been getting my numbers up at all. No3 barely at 5ppm.

don’t want to jinx it but not too bad for the moment. Hopefully some light dosing and manual removal with no white lights will set them back after a few days. I’ve got a Uv light arriving Tuesday…will see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?
