Dinos or cyano?

Any ideas? I know it’s hard to see but it’s the long stringy brown stuff. Interestingly when I turn the lights to white it looks more greenish. I’ve had dinos and it formed kore of a mat this is just random long strings here and there
Tbh I do not. I have an unopened Red Sea kit that I’ll crack open tomorrow. I do not enjoy testing and let the tank dictate what I do or don’t so. Coral extension and growth has been solid so far. I feed regularly so I’d be surprised if nutrients are bottomed out. I started with gulf rock so I’m surprised I ended up with dinos

Looks like some green macro algae, tons of varieties.
I don’t see much in the way if any, Dino’s or Diatoms.
Now, if the rocks (or sand) go “clean” during darkness, but show up when lights on….then Dino’s.
Pinch it off, and redirect snails to most affected areas.

I frankly see neither and what you can do to determine what is going on is to use a turkey baster and gently blow entire surface areas and siphon up. Clean filters and 24hr see if any of this reappears.
If it does, take fresh pics and describe color.
Cyano is generally a film commonly red/pink but can be green, yellow or even purple.
Dino will have filaments or strings looking golden or brown in color representing snot and developing bubbles from gases it produces.

Diatoms disappear at night too. They are light dependent.

I did not know that they left the substrate.
Mine just looked like snot, with a bubble.
The pics where you can see the zoas, there’s a bunch of thin stringy stuff, brownish in color. One string was like 8 inches long. They do reappear. I started with 35 pounds live ocean rock and barely had a cycle. I’d be really surprised and bummed if it were Dinos but it does blow away with a turkey baster and it does reappear in a day or so

I don't think they do. I think they shrink up real small with no light and can't be readily seen in the sand. Then as light comes on it opens and goes photosynthetic again.

It's probably just some ocean rock algae hitchhiker. Doesn't really look like anything urgent to me. Get a nice diverse cleaner crew in there.

Agreed, but Dino’s, can leave the sand completely (in darkness) and move in the water column. This makes at least, the golden types, easy prey for UV and fine filtering.

I've had dinos with ocean live rock before, not that long ago also, feeding more doesn't guarantee anything for n03 and p04, and that if uncorrected looks "to me" like the start of dinos (not it IS) see what it turns into in a few weeks. With no values or being there in person it's hard to tell of the pictures.
