Dino's or something else

So i have this brown stringy like algae in my tank.....its on part of the SB and also a little on rocks....some of these strings hang off corals as well.....some have bubbles some don't. they are hard to tale a picture of as its not so bad.....below are a few pictures.....I defiantly

saw 3 of my tangs eating it...

dino's are BAD. like you'll know it bad. everyone says dinos. I think this is the first actual case I personally have seen here in a year.

I am not sure but my first thought is dino. Sry. Hope I'm wrong but it looks it to me. I've never seen cyano on coral like that. Early to say but my guess is dinos.

Cyano will stick to corals and have bubbles? Also, why would my fish eat cyano?

Take it all out. If it comes back within an hour,you can bet on dino

Fish will eat both. Dinos will make them sick. So that should show you as well

Thanks....I guess we'll see how the fiah are....the tank is not at all covered so there isn't too much to take out.

there are a lot of different dinos. I get strings sometimes in the high flow ususally matts eventually.
I cant put twolittlefishies marine snow in my DT tank ever. It immediately gives me the cyano in the usual spots..

it always the keep an eye and double check.

Most pics I see online of dinos seem to be a light brown or tan color....mine much darker brown maybe even red.....

Mine were dark brown looks almost exactly like yours only I had a lot more. I'll see if I can dig up a pic

You appear to have cyano. One of the most common species of (reef tank) dinos look like light brown snot. Nitrates and phosphates were both low in my sps tank, but nitrates were lower. I believe that cyano and dinos (and macro algae) are phosphate orientated and thrive in tanks that have an imbalance of nitrates and phosphates. I started dosing nitrates and the dinos went away, literally overnight. The tank had a tiny amount of cyano, and that has been 90 percent eradicated, as well.

I actually pulled out my purigen to boost the nitrates a bit....maybe it will help....they are currently about 5 ppm

Multiple tanks that I've known with excessively low nutrients, that is unmeasurable phosphate and nitrate still carry and have issues with dinos.When I had dinos I tried every accepted cure there is to no avail. The only thing that made it go away was Excessive Removal. Siphoning it out every 20 to 30 minutes for about 3 weeks before it stopped returning

check out that guys link I posted Wiz. Gotta be a totally different strain, looks exactly like a freshwater one. I think hes in florida, prob a wild strain from the gulf or brackish swamp.
Hmm. Ive got some reading to do.
