Looking advice on a friends tank, currently thinking it's Dinoflagellates, but wanted to get a positive ID, and whatever it is, any treatment plans. It blows off easy, but comes back strong. So far it's being treated ( tased on this article https://www.nanoreefforum.com/how-to-get-rid-of-dinoflagellates/ ) by overfeeding and will soon do a black out. With overfeeding the nitrates are still at 0, with no water changes.

Definitely not dinos. Looks very chrysophyte.
Chrysophyte gel is thick, almost holds together out of water, dino mucus can be blown apart with a puff of water from Turkey baster.

When you say, it holds together, is that similar to Cyano how it will blow around like a sheet?

Kind of. I imagine it might billow in the tank flow...

This was a sample of the stuff that I grew.
Note how the mucus holds on to the airline tube even out of water.
