So I've been battling this algae for about 6 months, I've done huge WC's.... No WC's , lights out for 72 hrs, and shortening my light cycle. While the 72 he's did knock them down, they came back a few days later. I'm pretty sure it's Dino, but want to confirm. The weird thing is, it only grows on 2 of my rocks. Thanks for your help.

Those two rocks could be leaching phosphates. Might want to simply replace those two rocks if you can

If the dinos arent present in the sand bed or on the waters surface, then your ahead of the game, because normally they're everywhere....I've battled them on and off for years and a lot of people here will say that this stuff is snake oil,but Im here to tell u it works....I keep sps, lps, softies, not to mention many of them are exp..corals...High Kalkwasser levels def. helped me a lot but never eradicated the stuff......Here it is, give it a try, and I think you'll be pleasently surprised, I know I was. Kordon Ich Attack(Aquaherbals)....The cover reads :treats diseases caused by Ich, Fungus,Protozoans, and Dinoflagellates......but Im here to tell ya it kills the dinos not just the diseases they can cause....I bought the stuff by accident, called the manufacturer, and one of their scientists assured me it would work, and it most def. did....Good Luck. P.S. The stuff is comprised of nothing more than herbs, and it smells like decaying sage...

That's actually pretty interesting........ I purchased fauna marines ultra algae x when I first noticed it, but have been terrified to use it because I have a few bta in the tank and have read no reviews with ppl using them in nem tanks. In any case, so my pics do intact show Dino correct?

I cant tell for sure, but if the consistency is clearish brown, full of trapped bubbles, very slimy, with small dots within its structure, which are zooxanthellae algae by the way, then yes its dinos....That product I recommended, I couldnt believe it worked I was dumbfounded, but thrilled.....totally reef safe, and I only used maybe 3/4 recommended dose, because lets face it, even "herbs" are a source of carbon/nutrients which could = More Algae.....Good luck, I know the stuff is infuriating.

I had a dino problem for almost 5 months. Turns out it was bas DI resin, I would have never figured it out but Troylee chimed in with a recomendation to replace the DI and it vanished in within a month. Check your DI before you treat with peroxide. I did the peroxoide deal beofe the DI resin change and all I got out of it was bleached corals. Best of luck.
