So ive been battling Dinos for the last month. Ive blacked out the tanks 2x already (first time for 4 days and last time for almost 2 weeks) The 1st time dinos came back within a week of lights being on

The second time seems to have worked since lights have been on for almost 2 weeks with no reappearance. I only have to small fish in my 180 currently with heave skimming so Amm, Nitrates are non existent in testing. Im considering doing my water change which is 2 months behind schedule (because of DINO battles). Do you think its safe to do a water change?

Hmmmm mainly trying to help this thread get some traction here but ill throw in my ideas as well. Could there be something in the water that you are using to do changes that is causing the outbreaks? Silicates ect? I dont quite remember if its dinos that consume silicates or some other pesky critter.

Anywho these guys can help...... #reefsquad awayyyy!

yea probably ok to wc. how old is the tank? can we see a pic of the dino.

So I was told I have dinos. I dosed 1ml peroxide for every 10g water volume. My problem is 90% gone overnight... might be worth researching

A pic would help. Only two fish? No coral?

I was told they were dinos by a few people on a saltwater Facebook page. Might not be, I just know peroxide is working on what I have

This was the last time when it came back. I've been clean for the last two weeks. But. Still paranoid that it will return a 3rd time

Is it growing on the coral? And have your snails died?

What are you parameters? Mainly No3 and Po4's and Mg? are you running in type of carbon dosing?

What metod did you go with to remove it the first two times?

1st. Blackout only for four days. No water change

2nd time. Blackout for 2 weeks. And peroxide dosing at 2ml for every 10 gallons.

220 total gallons so 50 MLS a day.

Everywhere and snails are all dead.

No carbon dosing and didn't test either because Dino are consuming.

Mg is low. So raising up. From 1080 to 1400 (target)

how old is the tank. that rock looks young.

All the things that you have done are temporary, this is why the dino's are coming back. Test for the nitrates and phosphates please or take a sample to the LFS and have it tested. I have fought that fight and until I got my nitrates and phosphate under control I had an ugly tank. I now run phosphate minus and a bio pellet reactor and now my No'3 and Po4's are under control. I feed heavy so I have fat fish and happy corals:)

Should I be running biopellets ?
No corals and 2 fish. I have a reactor and pellets but waiting for a few months to add it on.

I'm testing now

Nitrates - salifert. Between .5 and 1 ppm
Phos .04 - Hanna low phosphate unit.
