I currently have Dino and was wondering who has had Dino's and what did you do to beat them.
I have a 50 gallon cads light aquarium with a 10 gallon sump
Nitrate:3
Phosphate: .02
Magnesium: 1350
Calcium: 450
1.025 salinity

Are you sure its dinos? I have to ask.
How old is the tank?
The most common seems to be nutrient reduction(your good there) and manual removal, and the introduction of competing organisms.

@saltyfilmfolks I'm pretty sure it's Dino's. I don't think it can be anything else.
The tank is 5 months old.
I've been adding mb7 but I don't really see a difference

often dinos are mistaken for cyano's. Really common. Your probably right in the middle or end of the uglies. if it truly is dino then its a different story. that's an invasive organism and why its best to double check.

sometimes diatoms are mistaken too. silica from the rock, then additional wc contains silicates. etc

any coral in there yet? are you running a refugium?

my favorite dino article.

It doubt it's cyano, I've dosed chemiclean just to see if it is cyano and it's still there.
I thought it was diatoms when it first started coming out then the little bubbles started to form which lead me to believe it's Dino's.
Yes I have corals in my tank and I do run a refugium in my sump.

yup, then check out that article. In a young tank with so many nutrients(the ones we dont test for, ugly phase fuel) it prob came in on a coral or rock and went big.
check out the AA article.

It's just bacteria? So you don't think it will kill dinos
They have a sponsored thread here. Check it out.
I have no idea how it can make all those claims. It lists the ingredients after much spin and hoopla as bacteria.

So in therory are they using bacteria to ot compete Dino's for food?
And how does it kill bryo? It's a bit too much for me to swallow.

Hahahahaha, I'm going on the ride! If it sounds too good to be true....... Can't wait to see! I've wasted more for less ;)

Dude if they included a pint of good ale I'd be all in too!

In fact knowing how good beer is I may start dosing it instead. If the problems don't go away I won't care!

So did you get this cleared up ? If so, what worked for you ? Are you still fighting it ?

From the looks of it it's all cleared up. I haven't had to clean the sand in a week.
I'm pretty I still have traces of it in the water but as of now no sign of it.
I just left my refugium light on 24/7 for about a month. I would add mb7 and added pods to compete with it.
I had increased my water changes from 10% every week to 20% for 3 weeks. And would siphon a layer of sand with each water change.
All that seems to have worked well

I had a dino outbreak. I knocked it way back with heavy metro dosing for 10 days. At the end of 10 days I started with Vibrant. No dinos. Zip. Nada.
No I am dealing with a cyano bloom.

Metro is short for metronidazole. It is a medication for fish that help against some worms and bacterial diseases....seachem has this med but it's called metroplex.
