Dinos

So many thing may i’ve contributed to my winning battle with dinoflagellates.....

Change the lights to promote other growth is a good idea!

I think that the biggest thing that helped was feeding the tank so much that it actually started to be polluted. I found my nitrates and phosphates were at zero and the tank was so sterile they gave in environment in which they really florist inn!

check your parameters and see if they are at zero....and if they are, Id consider getting more fish and feeding a lot more maybe unplugging your skimmer or fuge for a little while .

Good luck!

Getting a cheap microscope off Amazon will also help you identify which species it is and help you fight them .

I can say from my experience, no getting algae just means now you have algae and Dino.:)
It could be different for each depending on the type of Dino.

I also run my tank dirty at about Po4 at 1 and 40-50 No3. After years I have kinda given up after trying everything. If you can get a microscope and pix you can post in the Dino thread to help identify

Well my nitrates and phosphates are at 0 and 0.25 i did think about shutting down the skimmer for a while and remove the chaeto but then i read it didnt help any i am buying the microscope

If your nutrients are that low, that’s the first place I would start!

If you are running both, maybe try shutting the skimmer off. Run the fuge for nightly ph control IMO that’s good to keep around. Over skimming can be a problem!

Your on the right track to put up a fight!

Enjoy overfeeding for a week with no skimming and test nitrate. Aim for 50! Try to keep it there from then on by maintaining those habits that got you there.
