As others have said, I just got done battling Dino’s in my 50 gallon mixed reef. Was testing at 0 phosphate, 0 nitrate when the outbreak happened. First step for you would be to raise nutrient levels if they are low. I starting feed more and more often, tuned my skimmer down, reduced my fuge lighting cycle, and dosed phosphates and nitrates to get up to .08 phosphates and 10 nitrates. Next, raise your ph. It will help raise oxygen levels in the tank which creates a less ideal environment for Dino’s to thrive. The way I did this is by running an airline tube to the nearest window to feed the protein skimmer. I also added an airstone for an odd week or so. Reducing the display tank lighting cycle is also something I would recommend and something that I did because Dino’s are photosynthetic. I cut mine in half. I also dosed vibrant. This will introduce bacteria that will help out compete the Dino’s once you start slowing down their growth rate. Lastly, I did something a little unorthodox, but something I’ve heard weird success from. Apparently Dino’s, or at least the ones I had, hate higher temperatures. I raised my tank temp up to 80-82 for a week period. 2-3 days after I did all of those things, the Dino’s were 95% gone.
