Last night I bought a birdsnest frag, a branching frogspawn frag, and a frag of what looks like a spongeodes montiporia. Like an idiot, I dipped them all at the same time and put them in my tank without looking at the dipping solution to see what was left behind. To my alarm, I saw these nudibranches in my dipping container after the fact. Are these monti-eating nudies?

Yeah, that's the first thing I did, which is why I was specific in asking. I'm pretty sure that's what they are, but would like to get some opinions from more knowlegeable people than myself.

They do look like nudies, though the monti eating ones I have had were always white.

Me too. That's the only monti in my tank. Should I pull it?

Pull it and check the bottom side, scrape clean if eggs found, dip, then should be good. Quarantine if possible, don't know if you have such a tank.

Do you have any other Montipora in your tank?

A coating of ca glue across the underside will assure any missed egg don't hatch. Be serious about these, it took me months to get past them.

No. I did end up dipping one more time when I noticed it looked like the monti was receding and found a single Nudi. No issues since.

I hate these things- I’ve done superglue, yellow coris wrasse, Coral Rx, Melafix, mechanical removal with a toothbrush...it’s very hard to get them under control. If you miss one egg, they will come back, and I read they don’t need another to reproduce. I’d get it out of your main tank and QT it now, then try the options everyone is talking about, if you plan to get any more montis soon.
