I have tried to find a clear answer on this but couldn’t so I decided to just try it myself.

Is it safe to dip a rock flower anemone?

I just picked up a white and an ultra green rock flower. I dipped in Seachem’s Reef Dip about an hour ago.

Iodine is used in healing anemones so I can’t see why the Seachem product would have them. I used the smaller 5ml quantity of the dip and only did 15 minutes.

I did consider them absorbing a lot of the water and releasing the dip solution in the DT. I rinsed them twice in a clean tank water bath and tried to agitate them so they would shrink up and release as much of the water as possible that they absorbed.

I will update this thread with their health. As of right now both are open in the DT which I see as a good sign.

Sorry for the dark photos. I will get better ones tomorrow.

Why did you dip it?

The General rule is you do not dip nems. Now, I don't know much about reef dip, it does say it's safe for nems. @Amoo any thoughts?

I know I read that general rule on these forums a lot but nobody confirmed so I figured I would try. I really don’t think it harmed them one bit and they do already look happy after only a short amount of time in the DT.

Any trace iodine left in them should be good for my inverts... I think

CoralRX is fine for those, but I don't know about this stuff

You have personally used CoralRX on them with success? If so, have you used it on any other anemone? I could not find confirmation of CoralRX being safe either.

Well it’s been over 24 hours and my rock flowers look great. My lights go out at 7pm. These pics were taken just before they went off. I will report back again tomorrow.

There is a YouTube video with Julian sprung of two little fishes ( Revive ) which should help.

Was the 2nd nem that white before the dip?

I dipped mine in coral rx when I first got it not realizing you dont dip nems. It was not happy about it, but did not seem to have any long term negative effects from it. It did however detach from the rock it was on during the dip---maybe a way to get them off rocks when the foot is in a crevice??
