Dipping a toe back in.

Greetings,

Well after I tore down my 120g mixed reef in 2013, I told the wife I was done until we retired from the military. And here we are!

Brief history. I blame my reefing problem on my roommate from college. When I finally had money, I bought a 55g from Walmart. Tore it down, moved, set it up again, tore it down again prior to my wedding and another move. Fast forward, wife, first kid, fell in love with the Solana AIO. Had that up, then we decided to buy a house. The rimless AIO secretly blew a seam during the move. I got the dreaded call while I was at work about a week later! Local reefers saved the critters but I found myself tank less again. Bought the 120 from a local reefer and had it set up for about four years. Tore it down and put everything in storage.

With retirement on the horizon, I started lurking on R2R to see what’s changed. I feel like Captain America when they thawed him out! So many questions!

When did custom sumps become a thing? Color coordinated PVC? What?! Is it even socially acceptable to run a reef without a controller?

Anyway, looking to have something around 250-300 gallons for the next tank. I will be spending my time in the build threads getting ideas.

Thanks for reading. Feels good to be (kinda) back!

Oh, one more thing, who won the great war between LEDs and MH/T5s? ;)

Welcome to R2R and back to reefing.

Welcome to the community! As a total newbie with penny pinching tendancies, don't let all the new tech overwhelm you! Take with you what info you know is essential, and consider the rest! :P Most importantly, enjoy the journey!
