Hey everyone!
I have seen different opinions on dipping acros. Do you dip acros and if so do you dip it right away or do you place it in the tank for a few days to de-stress first.

I dipped mine as soon as it acclimates in a bowl to the new water. I mostly dip to remove any possible pests from the coral before putting it in my tank so adding it to the tank to destress first would possibly infect my tank

This is from my lfs. Which led to my question.

Honestly, I'm a bit of a reef noob. Only started getting into SPS around 2 weeks ago from keeping mostly softies and lps. I have no doubt a more experienced reefer is going to come here and correct me but I would personally never put a coral into my tank that wasn't dipped first just because trying to ensure one coral lives could end up killing all my other coral

Ah it says after shipping but I'm sure if you purchased it yourself and took it home within an hour then it's probably not an issue. I think they meant more for coral that have been legit shipped

I know that @FarmerTy uses a KCl dip, which is a little out of the ordinary. Personally I dip everything that goes in the tank. For me, possibly saving that one or a few pieces isnt worth wiping out everything. Some people use Bayer as well, but that stuff can be very nasty if used wrong, or even if used correctly.

I believe they are assuming the use of a quarantine frag tank. I don't imagine they are meaning to stick it in your display tank but I mean, the more livestock gets ruined, the more they sell haha

Thanks I will read this now!
I have always dipped my corals using aqua forest protect dip. I have only tried one Acro before and did not succeed.this is the only coral I have killed so far but only have been reefing for 7 months. I am looking over my whole process.
I am wondering people's opinions on this hoping to not kill it with my first step :D.
I appreciate everyone's advice!
