Hey everyone, i was luckily able to grab a handful of corals from the wwc time splitter event. I've always gotten half a gallon of tank water for EACH piece and 15 drops of coral rx for my dipping. Then after using a turkey baster for 10-15 min, I rinse in clean saltwater and place in tank. At most, I've only gotten two corals at a time and from what I read, I don't reuse the dipping water from the previous coral.

I have two inquiries now that I'm getting alot coming in.

The coral rx instructions says 30 drops per 1 gallon. I used half a gallon just because the thought it was too much for a frag. However, can I use even less tank water like a cup for a frag and reduce the drops? Will it as effective.

Also, I just wanted confirmation that I should not dip multiple corals in same container and water at same time?

Lastly, how do you guys dip multiple corals and any suggestions?

Thanks!

Of course you can use less water. At 30 drops per gallon, a cup would require about 1 drop.

I've also never heard about doing one coral at a time. I have done up to three at a time when I dip. What's important is making sure all the dip is rinsed off the coral. I typically do two rinses with tank water before placing the coral.

I believe I got that info from a brs video in coral dipping. They said that a stressed coral in rx can release toxins that harm other corals in the same dip. But I'm glad to hear I don't have to separate them!

Although I use Bayer as my dip, I dip multiple frags at one time and have never had an issue. As others have said, just double rinse them after dipping.

I've always dipped multiple corals at once, never had an issue. I just try to make sure they're not touching each other while they're being dipped.

I also was under the impression that coral (especially zoas and Palys) will release the toxins all over each other and not to do that with those coral.

Anyone think dipping multiple zoas and Palys together is an issue ?
I’ve been doing these kind separately so far And have 12 new ones coming in from Tidal Gardens on Saturday
