I put this in another section but I figured I would ask here too

I can't wait until tomorrow :-)
And I am buying a lot

I have never dipped corals before and I don't have a qt tank.

aquatic critter sells coralrx. Is it safe to use on all corals? Im buying sps, lps, and zoas for sure don't know about soft corals yet

Also how do I dip them? I read I have to use a powerhead with coral rx. I only have the ones in my dt

Do I acclimate them first then instead of putting then in my tank put them into a gallon of tank water in a bucket or something?

That is what I use for my corals. I dont use a powerhead though. I float them in the dt to get the temp the same, then follow the directions on the back of the bottle. I just stir the water with a spoon every few minutes, rinse with clean saltwater, add to dt.

Ok rinse with new saltwater or just more water from dt.

Someone in the other thread said to use Bayer advanced pest killer

Anyone use Bayer advanced?

I read several threads stating that it works great.

They suggested 5ml of Bayer to 1 cup of tank water.

They also said to cut off the frag plus and use new ones? Why? I would prefer to leave them on their plugs. Don't see point in using new plugs

I will dip everything I get in Bayer @ 1ml/cup of water before going to qt or main display. I have used coral rx pro and I got aefw. I will temp aclimate then dip and put in qt/display.

The suggestion for removing from plugs is mainly to keep acro eating flat worms (aefw) eggs out. They tend to lay eggs at bases. That said most if not all of our commercial vendors do a good job of pest control.

So float for a while then add tank water to bags like normal right then add frags to a bowl of Bayer and tank water. Then let sit and do I stir it any? Then take them out and put in a bowl of clean tank water for a bit then add to dt right?

Can I do all my corals in one batch at same time in a bucket?

I'm buying a lot of coral from individuals. I hate buying frag plugs they are always expensive when I buy them
And its Bayer advanced right? Concentrated or ready to use?
how long should I do each step? Would I need to re-temp acclimate?

I just seen where there are several Bayer advanced bottles which one do I use?

If getting corals other than acros your chances of pests are slim. I dont even dip anything but acros. But if buying acros this is what i do ...

1. Float bags in dt for 30mins-45mins
2. Mix 5ml/cup bayer in tank water. Just enough water to cover all corals is fine.
3. Add corals. No need to put tank water in bags to acclimate to parameters.
4. Let sit for 15 mins blowing off corals with a turkey baster or something of the like to blow off any pests.
5. Soak all corals in clean tank water for a cpl mins. I do 2 soaks to make sure no Bayer gets into my tank.
6. Inspect acros for eggs with a magnifying glass and scrape off or glue over any eggs. If you find eggs or aefw u will want to either break off the base or completely toss the whole coral. Or stick on a frag rack and re-dip every 5 days.
7. If all clean put in DT or QT

Ok thanks I've more thing though... You said no need to acclimate to my parameters?

Guess that depends on what you consider pests..... if you are not dipping everything there is a real good chance you will end up with something like planaria flatworms. While not really a pest and do not hurt anything in the tank they are still an eyesore and hard to get rid of completely once in your tank.
