Tomorrow i have a delivery from Legendary corals with firsts beyond zoas, palys, and acans...

My coral QT isnt up and running yet and i know the risks of not QTing and am willing to take the risk from the 3 sources I have purchased from so far.

I have been FW dipping and doing revive on the zoas and palys And revive only on the acans. With plenty of visual inspections.

Tomorrows delivery includes the following...

Neon Green Toadstool
Ultra Haitian Ricordea
Brightest Papaya Cloves
ORA Neon Green Birdsnest
Purple Grafted Montipora
Galactic Galaxia Freebie

Basically going to try new things to see how they do in the tank.

Now i have read that a FW dip is bad for the monti and the birdsnest so i grabbed some bayer today.

Any reason why i can't do a revive dip and a bayer dip on all of them before i put them in my DT?

Should i just do a bayer dip?

Is it necessary to remove the frag from the plug?

Any other hints, tips, suggestions?

Any special concerns on the other corals?

15.5 hours until the corals arrive...

Thanks!

I've never used bayer so I can't comment on that. I do know a few people who do use bayer that may be able to help. #reefsquad

You can do both revive and bayer on the SPS. You can make the bayer very strong without concern. Just rinse twice before adding to your tank.

People take coral off of plugs because most pests lay eggs under coral or at the base which usually is where pests lay their eggs.

Not all dips kill all pests. Some of them just kind of stun the pest. It is a good idea to use heavy agitation to dislodge any pests that are simply stun.

The other reason to remove the corals from the plugs ( unless they are plastic ), is that the dip is absorbed into the plug. What now happens is that after you rinse there is still dip in the plug and it now slowly releases into your tank. It doesn't matter what dip you use, Bayer, Revive, whatever, remove the frag from the plug.

I've done bayer dips a few times. Actually caught some nudibranchs even after having dipped in coral rx. 100% make sure you do the double rinse. 1 dip cup. 1 rinse cup second rinse cup. I dipped a torch that was firmly planted to a small piece of rock with no issues. Just rinse thoroughly.

FYI. Below is the ratio I used.

16 oz tank water with 0.7 ml of the Bayer.
Then two more 16 oz cups of tank water for rinsing.
15 minute soak and gentle flushing with the turkey baster.
Then to the first rinse cup for a minute or two. Then to the second and back into the tank.
