Dipping Frags in Hydrogen Peroxide

So im going to dip ALL my frags in 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide and 4 part tank water due to a hair algae out break. i created a frag rack to hold a significant amount of frags that fit perfectly into a 5 gallon bucket. I was also thinking about taking out ALL of my live rock and scrubbing them down with a brush one by one to make sure i got all the hair algae. Followed by a 5 gallon Water change.

Once all is said and done i will finally install my new MiniMax for the GFO reactor in my sump. would this be a good start to getting rid of this outbreak?

Another question i need to ask. Can i dip the Live rock in the Hydrogen peroxide solution as well? I have a small colony of Zoas that may need a good cleaning. I have other dip solutions like RX and Revive but not sure if they clean hair algae.

OK i dealt with this crap. i killed all by doing this. 10 remove live rock and sit and burn hot water. 2) cut back lights 3) add protien skimmer to elimnate nutrients (biggest reson you have hair algea) 4) less food for tank. 5) manaully remove as much as possible. Have any qustions PM me

Yea you can dip your LR in the solution as well, won't harm anything.
Question:
That sand is aweful white, your tank going through a diatom bloom?? As for the algae on the glass, just wipe it off.
Better way to kill HA would be to add your GFO now, and go 3 days lights out.

Its actually 9 months old. I actually sold most the corals. Didnt restock until hair algae is gone.

I just added a new skimmer last week. The first few days it was skimmming a whole lot of gunk. Now its a little watered down.

Yea, just dip the rocks, if theres nothing of significance on them then I'd bleach em and rinse them well, thats better than hot water.

i just finished medicating with Chemi-Clean thats how my sand got really white. Few more questions. Should i add the GFO After i clean, scrub and dip the LR and frags in the hydrogen solution?

DON'T dip sps in peroxide. I killed my monti frag that way (trying to remove exactly what you are, come to think of it). Some LPS don't tolerate it well, either. Acans seem to do ok...or at least, mine did.

To be 100% honest, your tank doesn't look like an outbreak at all. I would add the GFO and turn the lights off for 3 days. Be sure to wrap the tank in either black plastic or a blanket to remove all ambient light. The hair algae will be gone in no time. Repeat this procedure after 3 days with lights on the the algae starts to come back.

Peroxide is a wonderful thing to use with Bryopsis on zoa frag plugs, but I wouldn't dip all the live rock. Just treat as mentioned and call it good.

The hot water worked great for me, the HA just turned pale and dissapeard.

Yeah and probably killed all the bacteria on the rock.

I would not do a hot water treatment of any kind unless you want to re-cycle the tank.

IMO cdness advice is spot on.

The hp dip on zoanthid frags works pretty good. I did it once on ha and a stubborn red turf algae.

Well didnt start cycle for me, just don't no how i would feel pouring hydrogen peroxide in my bucket and dropping a coral in it. And if hydrogen peroxide dosnt kill bacteria then water i dont think will either. Its up to him, i fought and beat hair algae on my 3 tanks by hot water method.

Just read this. No, some corals react very poorly v to the oxidation.

Monitpora, chalice varieties , some acros and likely others don't like it much.

It burns flesh; effects vary to membrane tissue structure which determines how much burning a particular organism can take. Nobody knows for sure species by species in varying tank conditions.
If you have any mini brittle starss hanging on a frag being dipped, for example ;they will drop dead in their tracks, pods will scurry to get away and may survive but no doubt they are affected,lots ofbristle worms will float out and some will die. Dosed t oa tak it will kill lots of things. As a dip it's not too bad for certain croalsparticularly for red turfalgae attacks.
IME, bropsis will come right back, red turf and hair algae die off and take a while to come back. Zoanthus do fine with a dip of 4 parts tank water to 1 part 3% peroxide for 6 to 8 minutes. use it with care ; it is sterlization technique and kills lots of things, some good and some bad. I dipped a micromussa frag and it is fine.

ok i will do this..Im going to experiment both techniques with 2 separate rocks full of HA. Lets see which on is more effective. I wont put all the rocks in hot water i want all the bacteria otherwise i would have dead rocks lol i will also dip sone of my frags in HP. btw thank u all for the advice.

Ok cool, dont forget with hot water some chunks will detach from rock immediatly, other chunks will melt in 2 days
