I have CoralRx and Brightwell Medicoral, the latter being iodine based and the former being composed of various natural extracts. Given that their compositions are different, their effects on various pests and bacterias are also different. I bought both formulas to maximize effectiveness over a broad category of ailments.

My question is has anyone dipped new corals in 2 different solutions back to back? IE dip in coralRX as instructed, rinse, dip in MediCoral as instructed, rinse and put into the display.

Both treatments are safe by themselves but my concern is stressing the corals too much by going from one solution to a different solution and then into the display.

I’ve used coral rx pro and peroxide back to back with no ill effects. I would think as long as you rinse good inbetween dips then they would be okay? I’m for sure not a professional but here’s another bump.

Not a pro either but I've used the coral RX followed by fresh water dip. All were stressed pretty good, zoas and palys came out after about a day and acans and micromusa took 2-3 days to come out. I think the fresh water was too much of a shock coming from the dip. I don't think I'll do it again but the peroxide in saltwater sounds good to me.

When my soft coral order comes in this week I update after doing the two dip method with CoralRX and Brightwell MediCoral

Just an update:

The double treatment method worked fine, all softies are opened up and looking good even during the dip/acclimation.

I know I might catch some skeptical looks but I combined both the MediCoral and CoralRx in the same acclimating vessel to no I’ll effects. I was in a rush and didn’t have time to do two separate dips in succession.

A lot of life came sprinting off of the frags, didn’t see any pests.

Overall a very positive experience combining the two treatments. Corals didn’t look stressed at all.

I have used iodine with flatworm exit as a dip and coral rx with flatworm exit and iodine then coral rx, no issues with any I have used.

Thanks for the update! I wasn't able to double dip, but I did use CoralRX and saw 6 flatworms come off of a hammer I received yesterday. Hammer is open and happy today, albeit about 1/2" shorter than when it got here and a new acrylic plug. I really couldn't believe seeing so many wiggly flatworms jumping off the thing when I shook it in the dip. Crazy. No other corals in shipment had any pests come off.

Can you post on YouTube and provide the link please? iPhone users can’t see it
