So, I’ve has some trouble with my new tank established back in mid November. Yesterday I lost 2 new fish due to with water parameters or my not rinsing off my corals after dipping them. Lesson learned.

However, today my Cleaner Shrimp is a filthy little mess! He look like every crevice of his body is covered in a brownish black dirt.

Just looking to see if this is normal or am I in for another lost animal?

Thanks!

Well, I wipe up this morning and this guy was floating upside and had passed away. Any ideas what could have happened. I just tested the water and the only thing slightly off was the Nitrates at 5ppm.

Being that you lost fish and shrimp in such a short period, I would point the cause at water quality. Before adding anything else I would perform a series of large water changes. Depending on the size of the system, you may also be adding too much livestock too quickly. Also what parameters are you testing?
