Dirty tank

I’m just going through the cycling period so skimmer turned off and filter sock is out. I can’t help but notice the tank is getting dirty pretty quickly with no filtration (Pics of sump and the film on top of water)... can I give the sump a bit of a swish around and clean the display glass tank or do I just leave it?? Thanks

Give that sump 6 months and what you are showing will look very clean. People do various things to clean their sump, such as siphoning/wet-dry vac the detritus and other gunk out. I'll be removing the sump once or twice a year and giving it a thorough cleaning.
