What would cause a seemingly healthy anemone to disappear over night? I had this happen once years ago too when I was first in the hobby and never figured it out, I chalked it up to an accidental overdose of anti aptasia stuff. No such thing this time. No evidence it was ground up by power heads too. Where’d the little bugger go?

They can really squeeze themselves into cracks and holes. They can move under rocks and in between them. Do you have a pic of the nem and the tank? Home long has it been gone? How long have you had it? How new is your tank? Have you changed anything to make the nem unhappy?

They can also ball right up and make it hard to see them.

I don't have a pic of it in tank. It was in there yesterday and seemed fine, this morning it was gone. Had it about three weeks. Tank is only 2.5 months old. Did not change anything that I know of. Had a clown fish disappear last week too. Could not find it anywhere, sump, floor, carcass in tank. The other clown continues to be happy as far as I can tell.

Well chances are that your nem is dead your tank is way to new to support one and it died. It is probably under a rock or squeezed into a spot you can’t see decaying and fouling your water.

Well there you go. Sounds like I jumped the gun. How old should it be?

A standard practice I use is 1 year a lot of people jump the gun and do it after 6 to 7 months. Some have great success some fail. Please don’t take my text as being rude or mean because it isn’t. Anything you plan to put in your tank take the time to research impulsive purchases in this hobby is extremely expensive and as you know this hobby is already pricey. You’ll enjoy this hobby so much more if you take it nice and slow and so will your tank inhabitants. Adding a new fish soon look it up take the time to see what it takes to feed is it compatible with other fish and coral in your tank. Buying coral see what it takes to grow it feed it etc etc. make sure your equipment can support it lights are strong enough for it. Have questions post here I promise within 24 hrs you’ll have great information to help you on your decisions. It will only benefit you your wallet and your tank.

I could sense your frustration in your other post. It was a tiny bit off putting. Thanks for coming back with a fuller explanation, much appreciated.

Thanks - for what's worth I lost a beautiful tank to a house fire about 10 years ago and it's taken me thins long to get up the nerve to get back in. I'm finding I'm having to learn all over again.

Apparently he decided to relocate from in front of the Zoas to behind the zoas. Don’t worry, I’m not thinking I’m out of the woods yet, I’m sure he was hiding for a reason. I will research.
