I'm under the assumption my two purple firefish are presumed dead.

I have a 180 gallon, set up for about 7 months. Fish include Naso, Blue tang, purple tang, two clowns, potter angel, two blue/green chromis and two purple firefish. All were quarantined and added over a couple months with the purple tang going in last. The firefish hide for about a week, but then came out and were doing fine.

Then I added a melanurus wrasse and the firefish disappeared. The firefish have been in hiding for about three weeks now. I haven't found any bodies stuck to the pumps, etc, so I can't confirm they are dead, but figure it's pretty likely at this point. I haven't seen any trace of them.

Anyone had these guys hide this long?

They can hide for months and still be alive and if they’re dead your CUC would make a quick meal of them

My Firefish hid forever it seems. They might reappear. Other option.... is your tank open? Maybe the Wrasse convinced them to jump. They’re good at it!

Sadly to say, I also didnt see my firefish for weeks when I introduced a wrasse. It’s been 2 months now and my firefish has not appeared so I presume he is KIA.

no, i have mesh lids, so no jumping allowed.

When they hid the first time I could barely see them in the rocks. this time i can't see them at all. it doesn't give me some hope though that I've not seen any body parts or CUC eating dinner.
