Disappearing fish????

well i got home this evening an i was told im missing 3 fish, 2 yellow damsels an a green chromis i checked "as did the wifey an son" all around the tank an on the floor for jumpers an haven't spotted anything, don't have any cats or dogs just fish tanks, i looked all thru the tank i cant find anything, an the wifey said they didn't come out for feeding either, im at a lost will they hide for periods of time them come out one day or have they been eaten by other fish or hermit crabs?? "like ive seen in my chiclid tank" prior to this i didnt see anything abnormal the day before at feeding time, or the last hour of light cycle i sit there an just look at the tank. "Am i the only one that does that?? just sit there an look into the tank for a hour or so??"............. anyone have any ideas to what might have happened an has this happened to anyone else to?? thx mike

What kind of CUC do you have? It is possible they died and were cleaned up before the tank was checked on. And yes, hermits will eat dead fish (saw one the other day cleaning up after a dead peppermint shrimp, did a good job getting all the meat out and leaving the exoskeleton). Also check in your overflow or sump, sometimes fish decide to investigate these places.

i had 3 chromies kill each other over night- in the morning i saw my small army or hermits pilled in 2 areas on teh tank and under was 2 of teh chromies

wouldnt really call it a CUC, about 10 or 15 mixed blue a red hermit crabs couple 5 or 6 of those snails that have that snorkel looking things "cant think of there names atm" its 2:30 am, an i jus got done searching my sump an overflow no signs in there.....
