So I bought a female blue throat trigger a few months ago. She seemed to develop ich a week later. We treated her and it was gone. A few weeks later we started noticing what looked like velvet and began treatment immediately. Long story short... after velvet treatment was done... we notice every morning she looks just awful but by noon she is all cleared up. Looked on many forums and found nothing on this. Plus if you look online at fish sale sites their blue throat triggers always seem to appear the same way? Anyone have this experience too?

Can you describe your treatment process? Did you use copper? If so, for how long?

We used "ruby reef.. rally" according to dosing instructions. Did not use copper on account of no way to catch her and it's a reef tank. We're really not even too sure if it was velvet because like I said in the first post... she looks like that everyday and clears up. All the other fish are and always have been fine too. She sleeps in the caves of the rocks but is out all day and very active. That's why we're scratching our heads...

Rally contains these three active ingredients: acriflavine, aminoacridine and formalin. While these may be useful at "knocking back" external parasites such as ich & velvet, they are not potent enough to completely eradicate. Which would explain why symptoms keep coming back. Rally is more of a disease management tool.

Again. .. she is clear by noon time. Lol. I've looked high and low and come up empty trying to find something to treat her with while staying in the tank. Unless there's a new secret trick of catching her.... I would love to qt her and use copper.

I would also post this in the "Predatory Fish Discussion" forum: https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/predatory-fish-discussion.772/

Perhaps discoloration of sorts is "normal" for a Blue Throat Trigger. I have no experience with that particular species.
