I'm new to the saltwater aquariums and I have had my 55 gal up for about 2 weeks with a canister filter. I have live rock live sand 5 hermit crabs an intank refugeum and 2 green chromis. I figured I would get a scooter blenny because they are awesome. So I brought a blenny and some copepods. Got him home, acclimated him. I turned him into the tank. I also put some baby brine shrimp in there and he started eating them right away. I turn off the tank lights before bed and this morning I woke up for work turned the lights on. No blenny figured he was hiding. Got home from work still no blenny. I moved all the live rock took it all out sifted the sand with my net still no blenny. I can't find home for the life of me. Any idea where he could be?

If you don't have covers on the top our your tank, check the floor outside the tank, behind and the sides.... They are jumpers... I lost one that way..

Well, moving the rock and sand around isn't a great idea. If he is hiding, then it is for a reason and moving things around could stress him out. For future reference, if you cant find a new fish, just relax and wait a day or two. Or try spying on your tank from a distance and you'd be surprised.

Since you didn't find him then I imagine he jumped out. Do you have a cat or dog that might have scooped him up?

Don't leave that rock out of water too long o.O it may be hiding inside one, where you can't see it. My gramma does that.

If you have live rock not dry rock you could have crabs etc in there. In my first tank I made the mistake of buying live rock as the crabs in the rock ate all my fish and I knew they were crabs because they the stuck in the holes the crabs lived in! He could have died though and you clean up crew took care of it.

Found him. Well his head. He got sucked up in my power head :(

Ohhhh! T.T That's not a fun thing to find! Wonder if he got startled and ran into it in the night?

I know how you feel...in the "early days" of my fishkeeping I found a couple of my danios chopped up in my HOB filter. Never leave off those prefilters!! I didn't think that would happen but I suspect my mean female chased them up into it.
