After pass with really good luck. disaster occurs again ...
Back home from working out the city found my skimmer not working and all rocks. sand and coral cover in algae. fish and invertebrates death also. my refugium all gone
My 125 gallons reef tank was active for 6 years ups and downs
After buy a skimmer and do some cleaning found some screws coins and something else
Planning to
remove rocks clean them back
remove sand and replace with new
start over
Open to suggestions

Sounds like you are away for long periods of time. Do you have a controller so that you can monitor remotely? Also, a cheap security camera like a Reolink mounted in the sump is invaluable. You will be able to quickly visually check if your equipment is running.

You have to do a rip clean to fix that, and it can’t be fixed any other way.

If you do a proper rip clean on that size tank I’ll be shocked

you secured 125 gallons of ready made and heated saltwater already for the 100% change at the end?

you are taking apart the reef 100%, to be washed out empty in the front yard where the tank glass is scraped, 100% cleaned like new then dried? Heck I can’t get a 32 gallon owner to muster that much resolve in 12 hours


something tells me you are cleaning the system with water and animals still in it is that right or is this a legit takedown rip clean

to pre rinse your new sand alone for prep will take about 3 hours straight tap water rinsing

this is a twelve hour job pretty much

Lots of details are missing, questions unanswered

list the method you used to house all your life forms, extracted from the tank before the cleaning job began

cleaning with animals still in the tank water was never an option

skipping the 100% water change wasn’t an option, those are big jobs. Did you complete that part

how much of the example thread did you apply in the cleaning steps on your tank

Doing a slow comeback from last time disaster hits me
Building new stand. canopy and tank cleaning
Will change my aquascape and ends with few pounds of really light weight rocks mostly pukani in different sizes leys see

Is the glass quality good? Like good as low iron glass or is it just regular glass.

Was lucky to find it brand new from a person who never use it's a regular glass and looks very decent
