Dumb luck prevented a disaster.

My tank is not drilled so I am using an overflow box to return water to the sump. I refreshed my CUC about a month ago with some pretty large snails. Two of those large snails got into my overflow pipe and blocked the flow of water. The tank began to overflow and almost immediately shorted out the power strip the return pump was plugged into. This stopped the overflowing and saved the tank. In retrospect it was dumb to put the power strip where water could short it out but I got lucky this time.

I'm not sure how to prevent this from happening again but I'm open for suggestions.

Mexican Turbo Snails? Mine are about 2 inches. One caused damage to my return pump by body blocking the entire opening. As said on this thread before, snails will be snails.
