Disaster

I don't know your dad, but being a parent, this probably really scared him! This accident could have been much worse!

Don't forget again, okay! :)
He wasn't scared for me, he wouldn't even help me get to the urgent care. All he was focused on was the house....I'm sorry but if I had kids and they got hurt then I'd worry about them first.

Glad you are alright. I use GFCI and ground probes connected to the GFCI outlets. The idea is that any current flowing over the ground wire should trip the GFCI. A broken device in the water will put voltage in the water. The ground probe will provide a path to ground, which is what the voltage wants to do. Current on the ground should trip the GFCI and disconnect the voltage.

They can be annoying, tripping too easy and such. But they can save your life. And, generally, if they are tripping, there is a good reason.

I'm so sorry! I wish there was something I could do to help you. How is your leg this morning?

Sorry to hear about your accident! Everyone covered on how to avoid this in the future well. Also just be sure to inspect any old equipment before use. I know we get into a rush but seeing any small defect ahead of time can save a life. I've been shocked several times but never full on zapped. Heal fast! Give your dad time, he may have focused on the house as a way to control his fear that you had been seriously hurt. After all he can fix the house, unless he is a doctor your care was out of his hands. Then once he knew you were not going to die comes the "why did you make me worry" part lol.
Then again he could be a jerk. I don't know him but try to give him some consideration that he might just be freaked.

yeah that's scary. I get shocked all the time between that and old powerheads. I usually hesitate to dump my hand quickly in the tank for that reason. I usually identify when they start because i get shocked while dumping the skimmer cups. This is terrifying and that would really stink.

I have larger tanks except for my QT, hopefully I could not pull them down but on the other hand hopefully I wouldn't get continually electrocuted either.... that could end worse.

I have my tanks plugged in to a GFI strip but that isn't enough.

I also replace my heaters every few years whether I need to or not unless they're very expensive high end heaters. This is because I have had tanks crash. To me, spending 50-200 bucks on a new heater periodically is much cheaper than losing several thousand dollars of fish and coral. In recent years I have been purging most of my heaters annually...

I think the problem with this is it is a short burst so it doesn't trip the circuit. I get this too sometimes. It is a good warning that something is beginning to go wrong though. The items causing it do eventually fry out completely and trip the circut.

Doesn't explain why he couldn't take me to the urgent care

I am going off my experience with my own father, who does love me very much, but I know if there was someone else that could take me he would stay and clean up the mess because that is where he felt he could do the most good in that situation. Once he knew I wasn't dead/DYING he would let me hear it how saltwater can ruin the finish on the new Harwood floors.

True. But he also couldn't even help me get ready, bandage the wounds, anything and he was right there for my brother when he got a broken arm even though he had a ride

Yea that sucks. My mom has a bit of that favorite sib complex with my brother lol. I've learned to shrug it off. She does love me, she just has her own issues when it comes to him. Heal up. See how bad the damage is all around and then hopefully when things calm down you can get back in the game [emoji4]

I'm not sure where you are located but I just broke down a 120 so if you find yourself in need of odds or ends let me know. They are sitting in a pile to be cleaned when I have spare time... haha spare time.

OK so here's a new question, what can I do to completely cure my now dry rock. I want it to be as if it were brand new when I set up the tank at my friends vape shop

Hey, what odds and one do you have? I'm still seeing the big tank up. Might need some things

Man, sorry for your lose. I have a titanium short out on me and knock me back on my butt. Now I always use a ground probe in my tanks and GFC on my power.
