tomorrow im getting a trio of Disbar Anthias. For my first 2 phases of fish I have QT with humblefish tech with great success, and 0 deaths. I understand Anthias don’t handle copper well. How are y’all doing your Anthias? Can I still hit them with the prazipro? Just looking for some advice

Also, the foxface I just put into my DT just put out a long stringy white poop. (Humblefish if you used Generalcure in your tech and I got lazy I’m sorry) I’m thinking he probably has internal parasites that I missed because I never saw him poop in QT and read prazipro doesn’t get everything. He was stressed and didn’t eat much. So I have some general cure, garlic, and that seachem binding agent, but I can’t feed the whole DT with that right? I’m not gonna hurt my shrimp or crabs?
-Thanks!

I’m not sure about the Anthias being sensitive to copper but I would definitely treat with Metro in the water column 2 scoops per 10G and in the food for 14 days at the same time. Uronema is rampant in Chromis and Anthias these days and once they show symptoms it’s usually too late.

Depending on the species of anthias, they may be sensitive to copper. The issue is once you get to therapeutic target they may not want to eat. It seems that the deeper water species are more sensitive to copper.

As far as the fox goes, you do need to feed it medicated food. Shrimp may not tolerate the medicated food.

+1 to both of the above.

If the anthias stop eating in copper, you might need to drop it back a bit until they start eating again, and then slowly try to bump it back up. I think a very gradual ramp up helps immensely with finicky eaters.

Metroplex in the water column and General cure in the food for 14 days will hopefully eliminate the risk of uronema (and all intestinal parasites), but if you REALLY want to be safe I’d give them a 90-minute bath in ruby reef rally (acriflavine) prior to introducing them to the QT.

And, you can feed the foxface the medicated food, but little amounts at at time and only as much as the fish will eat... you really want to try to avoid “extras” for CUC and corals to nab...

Ok thanks. I don’t have any corals in the tank yet, just some fish and CUC

I was hoping it was just the change from moving him to the DT that made the day 1 poop weird. But just caught him doing it again and it’s day 4 in DT. Oh well, time to start the meds I suppose... lesson learned lol

Yep, that’s textbook intestinal parasites... but the medicated food should clear it right up for him :)

Update: foxface is much better, havnt seen any stringy poop in at least 2 weeks now.

All the anthias died tho. On day 9,12, and 13 of QT. It took me almost 7 days to get everyone eating, and stable and then I started prazipro on day 8 but they never even made it thru. I was planning on treating with GeneralCure also, just never got the chance. I did see red spots on two of them that looked sort of like burns, but I now understand was probably uronema like drmrose7 suggested

I just got an order of 3 bonded squareback anthias today, from LA DD this time. I have been watching them for a couple weeks and they had been on the website for at least 2 so I figure that gives them a month together at least, hoping things go better this time. Gonna treat with GC first this time

Hey so answer me this tho, do I have to use GC AND metroplex? I thought metro and prazipro both had a component and GC was like a combination of them both. I can’t just treat with GC in the food, and water column?
Thanks
