Disease diagnosis for peppermint bass

Hi all,

I have a new peppermint bass that suddenly developed some nasty white marks on its body. It didn't look like ich to me, but instead more like repeated scratches? I could definitely be wrong. Either way, I'd like to figure out exactly what this is and what I can do about it.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the best pictures but the bass held still for a moment.

I cannot make anything out for certain, are you sure it's not injury from tankmates or its' environment?

Any change of behavior? Scratching, flashing, hiding from light? Breathing heavily?
