Hi guys. Any idea what the white stuff might be? Its been like this in months and wont open up properly since then. Just looking for an opinion. Thanks.

Thanks, just had to be sure. This palythoa was in the prime of her life a few months ago, now looks like...well
 
I would probably just brush the sponge off out of the tank and dip the coral in something a sponge might hate. Palys are hardy and can take a lot of abuse if you let them close up before a dip. Maybe a short freshwater would kill the sponge? Not sure coral dips would… hm. Maybe tank water plus enough peroxide just to bubble for 5 min. Just some ideas.
 
Well it is quite well stucked to the rock. Tried to remove it but no luck. I read that sponges will die with exposure to air, just take the coral out for a few minutes and back again. Aparently will kill the sponge. But the dang thing its stuck to a big piece of rock.
