This showed up a few days ago. At first I thought it was an abrasion, but it is spreading. What is it and how do I treat it?

Clear case of brooklynella clown disease.
The thick mucus on its body is a second sign which is noticeable on the fish. This mucus generally starts at the facial area as well as gills and spreads across the body producing lesions as it progresses often confused with ich and can turn into secondary bacteria. Other symptoms will be lethargic behavior, refusing to eat and heavy breathing from the mucus.
Typical treatment is a formalin solution is mixed with in a separate container with either fresh or saltwater. Start with a quick dip in the formalin at a higher concentration then performing treatment in a prolonged bath of formalin base at a lower concentration in a quarantine tank. The longer the fish are exposed to the formalin treatment the more effective it will be at eliminating this issue.
If a formalin solution is not available for immediate use, temporary relief can be achieved by giving the fish a FW bath or dip in water same temperature as display tank. Even though this treatment will not cure the disease, it can help to remove some of the parasites, as well as reduce the amount of mucus in the gills to assist with respiration problems.
Treatment is best done in a QT tank using either quick cure (more effective) or Ruby Rally Pro. Ruby takes a little longer and initial treatment generally takes 2-3 days to really start going to work.
With the advanced stage of this- I recommend immediate quarantine of all inhabitants and leaving display without fish for 4-6 weeks.
A quarantine system if you dont have one can be as simple as a starter tank kit from walmart which has most of the essentials

I appreciate the advice. Do you have a recommendation on the duration FW dip?

5 minutes with water same temperature as display tank

I’m using Ruby Rally Pro right now, I’m getting results, but it hasn’t cleared up yet. I’m on day 4. I’d like to have a back up plan. Who makes Quick Cure? Thanks
Rally is excellent but takes longer. Quick cure by aquarium pharmaceuticals

I can’t find the Quick Cure. Where can it be purchased? I really appreciate it.
Last I heard, its been hard to find but formalin at 37% would work

It’s almost cleared up. I’m going to continue to treat until I don’t see it anymore. Today is day 6. I normally do a water change every two weeks which would be on Sunday. If I’m still treating at that time should I do a water change? In the last month and half I’ve been doing a 12 gallon water change on a 32.5 gallon tank every two weeks. Before I was doing an 8 gallon change. Any advice is much appreciated.

Complete treatment and then do water change. Glad to hear youre in the right direction !

Really appreciate it!
This is really hard to get rid of, I’m going to continue to treat. My captive bred shark nose goby is cleaning it. Unfortunately the goby was in the party that caused the infection. It came from all captive bred fish. I have a lab grade 37% formaldehyde solution on the way, but I’m hesitant to use it due to inexperience with it.

Sorry I just came across this because I am pretty sure my clownfish got Brook recently. I just started treating it with Ruby Red Rally and was wondering if it cured your fish of Brook completely or if you used anything else as well?

I treated for 3 weeks, got rid of it. It came back about 1.5 weeks later and I just started treating again. Hopefully it won’t come back this time.
