Just noticed this mark on my wrasse. He’s eating, acting fine, no other strange behaviors. It is however, my newest addition and one of the last additions. I haven’t seen any aggression issues either. I’ve been out of the hobby for 6 years and have had my tank up for a few months now. I am not quite as calm and confident as I was years ago. I do have a hospital tank if necessary, but what do y’all think is going on here? I am including two pictures of the side in question and one picture of healthy side. TIA

Looks like your clown took a chunk out him. It's likely an aggression injury. You will want to keep a close eye to ensure it doesn't get a bacterial infection. Keep water quality pristine and feed vitamin enriched foods with Zoecon and Selcon. If its not a huge hassle, I would anticipate for the worse and get your QT ready just in case. But that's my safe over sorry mentality.

Thank you. I just got really nervous when I started reading about uronema. It really does look like an injury, but I’m a worrier. The water quality is pristine and we have qt ready to go if necessary.

Totally get it. Since the tissue is actually missing vs flushed red sore on the body it leads me to believe its injury. But you're all set with your QT just in case you need to pivot for any reason. If the fish keeps active and eating you'll notice healing fairly quickly but keep an eye on aggression issues.

Your input is greatly appreciated! I’ll sleep better tonight for sure and am ready to take action if needed.
